facebook ads / wedding rings

facebook ads / wedding rings

As a single female, I’ve come to expect these sorts of ads from Facebook. But, what?!?! As if, I don’t have enough pressure from my parents to give them grandkids. (See: previous post.) My own little revenge? I click on all of the ads just to run up the pay-per-click prices.

2 Sentence Review: Portnoy’s Complaint by Philip Roth

Portnoy’s Complaint, a novel by Philip Roth, should be mandatory reading at all synagogues during Bar or Bat Mitzvah training.  Actually, it should be mandatory reading for anyone who can relate to this excerpt from page 99-100 in my copy (ISBN 0-679-75645-0), the inclusion of which makes this review longer than 2 sentences. Pianist!...

2 Sentence Review: Kindle App for iPhone

Unlike an actual Kindle, I can hold my phone sideways in bed and turn pages with my thumb.  Unlike an actual book, it’s not heavy to carry around and, with the press of a button, the lights turn off.

2 Sentence Review: Fruit Ninja for iOS

There must be something about games that require finger swipes because, like the ever-so-popular Bejeweled, Fruit Ninja by Halfbrick Studios is addicting and competitive. While Fruit Ninja does not connect directly with your Facebook account (maybe a good thing?), you can connect it to your Open Feint account or (better yet) Apple’s Game Center,...

2 Sentence Review: Ghostwritten by David Mitchell

2 Sentence Review: Ghostwritten by David Mitchell

More of a character exploration than a novel, David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, Black Swan Green) takes us through the minds of a terrorist, a jazz-loving adolescent, a spirit, and an aged, female entrepreneur in his debut, Ghostwritten. Not as polished as his later novels, Mitchell’s Japanese influence still peeks through as he threads the...

2 Sentence Review: Skype for iPhone

If you use Skype on your computer, you’ll probably want to have Skype on your iPhone. It’s only what you bring to the app or make of the app – your list of contacts, call forwarding, and/or Skype Credit – that sets Skype apart from similar apps.

2 Sentence Review: The Passage by Justin Cronin

2 Sentence Review: The Passage by Justin Cronin

When I first picked up The Passage by Justin Cronin – one of the summer’s hottest reads – the eerie, almost-post-apolocalyptic world gave me hope that one of the summer’s hottest reads wasn’t simply another gimmicky vampire novel. That’s why I was so disappointed with the last 200 pages when it seemed like Justin...
