The Mustache Diaries: Day 5

Dear Diary,

Apparently 5 days is what it takes for me to grow enough mustache to invite strange looks from cashiers behind counters. At lunch and at the grocery store, I received distinct momentary stares or double takes at my upper lip. It’s strange, but I find myself smiling more. Is it that I know that they are wondering about my mustache, or does a mustache inherently make you a happier person? I’m inclined to say it’s a little bit of both. Certainly as I walk down the street I feel quite a bit more confidence. I maintain eye contact rather than glancing down at the ground after initial eye contact, almost daring people to look at my mustache. This prolonged eye contact usually elicits smiles, especially from women. And smiles always send confidence sky rocketing. To be sure, I still feel slightly awkward wearing this mustache, but perhaps it will be better than expected. I’m not sure people will take me more seriously, they might be actually taking me much less seriously and that is why they smile.

Yours,

Kiren, a.k.a. Mr. Killstache

You can donate to Kiren’s mustache and help cure kids with cancer by going to Mustaches vs. Cancer and searching for Mr. Killstache. It’s a scientific fact that Kiren’s mustache grows better with multiple and frequent donations.
