An Open Letter to a boy in my creative writing class:

Your story, you know the one about the two in love in India, that one was good.  I remember that one.  I also remember you have a yellow jumpsuit and wanted to wear it on Halloween like the character in Bottle Rockets.  Maybe you did wear it.  I guess my memory isn’t that good.

You also made me a website and made me jealous with all your e-mail groups.  That is why I had to start the e-mail group “ishitatthreeo’clockdaily”.  Cause I did shit at that time and I wanted to be a part of your e-mail groups.

Then you had a crush on my housemate.  Wait, probably numerous of my housemates.  Why never me?  You aren’t good for my self-esteem.  But you did introduce me to the Eels, which helped my depression.  Not that I was depressed.  Just had a quick spell of the Grace Kelly Blues.

And we sat together for graduation.  Go Michigan Alumni!  (Especially those not featured in the alumni magazines)

Basically, to modify Billy Joel we’re “sharing a drink called [being tormented by our parents' expectations] but its better than drinking alone.”  Thanks for reading my writing.  And yes, you were qualified to read it.  I know how to spot a true friend.

yours,

I’m glad you remember. I, too, am a late bloomer revolutionary. And I still have to bloom. But perhaps, you’ve created the space for that to happen.

As my history goes, I usually stop talking to those I have a crush on. I should be more accurate. I usually stop talking those I admit to having a crush on. Considering that, your self-esteem should soar, crush or not (you’ll never know), I’ve considered you worthy of long-term friendship. Don’t consider yourself lucky, I’m the one who is lucky. I don’t drive through the night to Pittsburgh to visit any old friend. I’d drive oceans for you.

Even though its different…I think you are definitely worthy of long term friendship, revising proust..even though we haven’t seen each other in ages, we can just pick up about anything, anywhere, anytime.

    i heart everyone.

that was pulled straight from xanga.

    gosh. remember that site?

you can probably tell how old someone is if he or she knows of xanga.

or…maybe just how nerdy someone is.

    ** if nerdy = cool.
